Intake and Assessment - Criteria for receiving treatment and steps to take to become a client:

To qualify for admission the following basic program eligibility criteria must be met:

  • The individual must be a resident of the tri-county area of Box Elder, Cache or Rich counties (District 1) to apply for treatment at a subsidized rate.  Individuals residing out of District 1 may receive treatment at full cost and if caseloads allow.  If the program reaches capacity, those residing within the tri-county area would receive first priority.
  • The individual may not be a resident of the funding region if he or she is currently enrolled as a student at Utah State University, or ordered specifically to the program by a court, probation or parole office.
  • The individual must be at least 18 years of age and of legal competency, or have a signed consent for treatment from his or her legal guardian.
  • The individual must be experiencing problems primarily related to the direct use, misuse, or abuse of alcohol and/or drugs (illegal or pharmaceutical).

The first step in the admission process is an evaluation.  Evaluations may also be required by courts or probation for sentencing purposes.  During an evaluation an individual will complete a history of use, SASSI (Substance Abuse Subtle Screening Inventory), and have an interview with a clinical counselor.
