Backwater Prevention Valves - Due to the high water runoff and flood issues in Cache and Box Elder Counties, many homes have been experiencing damaging septic or sewer backups into basement or other below ground living areas. These backups not only cause damage that is difficult and expensive to repair but also cause public health concerns. In many cases, installing a backwater prevention valve in the basement floor and in shower drains can prevent these backups. A simple floor drain backwater prevention device is easy to install and generally costs under $20. A more complex sewer backwater device can be installed (or may already be installed) to provide even greater protection by checking with a qualified plumber.
