Lynn Tells His Story: A Testimonial
When Lynn Hansen came to the Bear River Health Department for a free glucose screening event, he had no idea he was at high risk for developing diabetes. After his blood sugar test came back high, and he learned about the dangers of diabetes, he knew it was time to make some changes. He enrolled in the new National Diabetes Prevention Program and six months into the year long program he has lost 30 pounds, his blood sugar and cholesterol numbers are normal, he has more energy, and he is taking better care of his health by eating right and being more active. When asked what impact the program has had on his life, he replied "I don't have to hold my breath to bend over and tie my shoes anymore."

However, Lynn hasn't had to make these changes alone. He remarked one of the best parts has been the support of other people in the class, setting goals, and the consistency he gets from attending the class. All of these things have helped him accomplish his health transformation. He is confident the class will continue to positively impact his life and health. He stated, "There is no doubt in my mind that if I didn't take the class, I would still be the same as I was six months ago, unhealthy and 30 pounds overweight.
